FallingWater has always
been very attentive to
the requirements of our
clients
and our clients have
responded:
“One of the life’s
enjoyments is having fun
and capable people in
one’s life. Joanie, you
are one of those. When
we started, we were
seeking help with
colors, furniture, and
artwork for our living
room.
You
have a wonderful way of
learning what was
important to us, and
helping us see new ideas
and how they might offer
a fresh look and accent
those things that are
most meaningful to us.
What is exciting is that
our life-style now works
even better in our
living room. It makes a
statement, yet has more
comfortable feel.
You are a true
phenomenon with colors –
far more than any
interior designer with
whom we have previously
worked.
Every
sub-contractor you
suggested impressed us.
They were in a class by
themselves. What a
talented group
(painters, electricians,
gardeners, and framers).
They are true artists in
their own right, and
delightful people. We
have no reservation in
giving them access to
our home when we were
out, which made the
process stressless. It
all went so smoothly.
We are
so thankful to you for
helping us create
beautiful space for us.
We look at each other in
the evening and say,
“Thank you Joanie”. We
love our home more than
ever.
Denver, CO
Tyson sent us wonderful
pictures of the house.
All we can say is that
the colors that you
picked out Joanie are
simply amazing.
Is there a problem
having such an
incredible look in a
neighborhood of
otherwise pretty dull
looking houses? Just
kidding of course about
it being a problem, but
not about it standing
out amongst the drab.
Best wishes,
Denver, CO
As
owner of a Louisiana
plantation home designed
by A. Hays Town, I have
found it difficult at
best to update anything
in my home without
negatively affecting its
historic nature.
A friend of mine who
lives in downtown
Chicago recommended Joan
McGrath to me; she was
able to direct changes
in style that bridged
the gap between the
traditional that cannot
be changed and the new
green lifestyle that I
have come to desire.
The result is a home
that hasn't lost its
traditional appeal when
modern touches were
applied. Joan McGrath
brought the computer age
into my Gone With the
Wind environment.

“Ever since my condo
was featured on HGTV
Freestyle, I’ve been
bombarded with dates!
Thank you Joanie for
making my bachelor pad a
hit! Your
fresh ideas, sense of
style and ability to
translate my personality
into where I live is
amazing. You’re the
best!

“You really get it
– you tell the truth,
but in a kind way. I’ve
wanted to sell my home
since my wife passed
away. I know it’s a
mess, but you’ve made
this transition an easy
one with your
suggestions in preparing
my home for sale. Thank
you – and how did you
know?? Denver, CO
“Joanie was involved
from day one building
our home including
selecting the
landscaping and
furnishings. Our home
has been featured in two
magazines and was
selected to be on
Arizona’s cool house.
In the articles, “Purple
Aster” has been best
characterized as “ranch
inspired with organic
and contemporary
elements, Purple Aster
is elemental, sensuous
and simple.” Joanie’s
selection of furnishings
were guided by the
desire for simplicity
and defined by the
Native American
integration of air,
earth, fire and water.
There is not a single
thing I could think of
that I would have
changed in all the
decisions made by
Joanie. Here taste is
impeccable. She knows
how to capture the
“desert wow!”

“I
bought a 1970’s brick
ranch home that
desperately needed
remodeling. The curb
appeal was definitely
lacking! My adult
children thought I was
crazy.
But I knew this home
had good bones and so
with my courage and
Joanie’s talent, I’ve
turned this plain and
dated home into an open
floor plan that provides
entertainment options
both inside and outside.
The front porch was a
little 8 foot sinking
cement slab. The
original house had a
dated hot tub off the
kitchen and patio that
was enclosed with
sliding glass doors! The
patio was a sinking mess
of flagstone. Joanie
hired wonderful
contractors and started
the remodel process from
the outside in. She
designed a circular
front porch with a seat
wall, a winding pathway
to the door, recommended
a radiant heat system
for the driveway,
utilizing brick pavers
and now I never have to
shovel snow again! The
landscaping is beautiful
with unique tree and
shrubbery selections
that compliment the
country setting of the
neighborhood. The
backyard was transformed
and the hot tub was
hauled away with the
rest of the mess and a
1200 circular Trex
decking also with a seat
wall has made
entertaining a dream.
Joanie didn’t stop on
the outside. Inside, she
opened up the
compartmentalized 70’s
style rooms and created
a wonderful open living
space. Her color palette
along with creating a
water feature in the
entry way has made this
home magical.”

“Chicago is a
sophisticated city with
sophisticated tastes.
When Joanie McGrath was
recommended to me to
help me furnish my pied
de tier, I was
skeptical. I had a fixed
budget yet I wanted my
second home to feel cozy
and welcoming.
Joanie got it! She
listened to my concerns
and helped me furnish my
home exactly the way I
imagined. But best of
all, she came in under
budget! I had
a fun experience and
never thought my second
home would end up so
beautiful.”

The relocation
experience to St.
Andrew’s Village
independent living for
our residents that have
worked with Joanie
McGrath at Fallingwater
have been nothing less
than wonderful!
Joanie and
her team handled the
move from both sides –
taking care of our new
residents from start to
finish. As one resident
put it, “Joanie handled
all the details of my
move. We decided
together which
furnishings I would be
taking to my new home,
which items would go to
my family, and what
items would be donated.
On the day of the move,
I walked into my new
home at St. Andrew’s and
everything was in place,
pictures were hung, the
bed was made, the
kitchen was setup and my
clothes were placed in
my closet exactly how
they were in my original
home. There wasn’t a box
in sight. I turned the
key and I was home.”
Joanie’s exemplary
professionalism has been
a delight to work with.
Her sensitivity to the
staff and existing
residents is a welcome
plus!
We've worked with
many interior designers
and NONE compare to her
skill. For Joanie,
interior design is not
just a profession, it is
an art. She
has an exceptional eye
for composition and
color, and is quick to
find those elements of
design which resonate
with the client. I don't
have any "don'ts" when
working with Joanie as
she is a perfectionist
and the work is done to
perfection. She is the
ONLY person I trust
implicitly to give
complete carte blanche
on decisions to carryout
our choice of design,
selection of materials
and furnishings.
